E-launch of Vidya Vistar Scheme

Delhi University’s Vidya Vistar initiative is based on the principles of mutual respect, cooperation, and sharing between colleges/ departments of the universities as equal partners. Vidya Vistar scheme's journey at Hindu College began with its E- Launch in collaboration with the three North- East Colleges i.e. Dorjee Khandu Government College; Arunachal Pradesh, Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College; Sikkim, and North Kamrup College; Assam on 25th April 2022 at 10 A.M. in the presence of distinguished chief guest Mr. Pema Khandu, honorable CM of Arunachal Pradesh. Other dignitaries, Shri T.C.A Rangachari; Respected Chairman, Governing Body of Hindu College, Prof. Balaram Pani; Dean of Colleges, Prof.K. Ratnabali; Dean of Academic Activities and Projects of Delhi University, Dr. Vikash Gupta; Registrar of Delhi University, Dr. Yeshi Gyesen; Principal, Dorjee Khandu Government College, Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, Prof. Jyotiraj Pathak; Principal, North Kamrup College, Baghmara, Assam, Dr. D. Purohit; Principal, Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College, Tadong, Sikkim, Prof. Anju Srivastava; Principal, Hindu College, Prof. Reena Jain; Vice-Principal, Hindu College, Nodal Officers; Dr. Ananya Barua from Hindu College and Mr. Reamy Mega from Dorjee Khandu Govt. College also joined.

Orientation Programme

On 11th May 2022, Hindu College, University of Delhi, partnered with three North-East Colleges of India, North Kamrup College, Assam, Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College, Sikkim and Dorjee khandu Government College, Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, organized its first Vidya Vistar orientation program on zoom platform and streamed it live on YouTube. The event was attended by the principals, nodal officers, faculty members, and student volunteers of the respective colleges. The event was marked by the presentations of different departments and societies as well as cultural performances from Hindu college and all three North East colleges. Students of partnering colleges also shared their expectations from the Vidya Vistar scheme such as access to a variety of study materials, exchange of knowledge, and development of professional skills. Emphasis on the importance of cultural exchange, personality development, and maximization of the utilization of existing resources available with the universities, through academic collaboration and cooperation, was made.

Open Access E- Resources

Hindu college in collaboration with its North-East partnering colleges organized a workshop on “Open Access  E-Resources'' on three respective days. On 29th June 2022 with North Kamrup College, Assam; 30th June 2022 with Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College, Sikkim, and 1st July 2022 with Dorjee Khandu Government College, Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. On each day the program was attended by the Librarian, IQAC coordinator, assistant coordinators, Nodal Officer, and student volunteers of the respective partnering college along with the Librarian, Nodal officer, faculty members, and student volunteers of Hindu College. On each day, Hindu College Librarian, Mr. Sanjeev Dutt Sharma, with the help of a PowerPoint presentation explained in detail about the Open Access E-Resources. He began by explaining what open access is and then talked about what are the websites that give open access to E-resources and how we can access them easily, like DOAB (Directory of open access books), Project Gutenberg, HathiTrust Digital Library, etc. He also provided information about the e-resources in Hindi like Kavita Kosh, Gadya Kosh, and even E- Pustakalaya that provided access to other language resources like Sanskrit, Marathi, Bangla, etc. After providing comprehensive information about e-resources, Mr. Dutt each day solved the problems and queries of the partnering colleges such as “How one can get access to regional language sources such as Nepali language”, “How one can get access to the full document and not just the preview”. He also emphasized N-LIST (National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content) which is covered under Section 12B of the UGC Act.

Overcoming Low Self-Esteem

Hindu College, in partnership with the Internal Complaints Committee, organized a two-day workshop on the topic "Overcoming Low Self Esteem" from 31st August to 1st September 2022, at 4: 30 P.M. via the online Zoom platform. Miss Radhika Bali was the key speaker of the workshop. She is a great personality sculptor, renowned Entrepreneur, Image Consultant, and founder and director of AKS by Radhika. This two-day workshop was attended by the principals, Nodal Officers, and student volunteers of the three partner colleges along with Dr. Charu Kumar, the presiding officer of the Hindu College Internal Complaints Committee, Nodal Officer, faculty members, other members of ICC and students volunteers of Hindu College. On day one of the workshops Miss Bali talked about how poor self-esteem is one of the biggest pandemics in this world. She explained in great detail what are the ways of overcoming poor self-esteem, what is a self-portrait, how our close relatives make the greatest contribution to our self-image, how relationships reinforce what we think and feel about ourselves, what is a mental image, how inner-image is a product of learning and experience. Ms. Bali talked about POSH i.e. “The Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act”. On the 2nd day of the workshop, her main focus was on communication and effective communication skills in overcoming poor self-esteem. She explained in great detail what is verbal communication, how our verbal communication makes the greatest contribution to our self-image, how non-verbal communication helps in expressing an individual’s ideas and thoughts, what are the ethical ways of communication in a different contexts, and how textual communication is a product of learning and experience. On both days of the workshop, after Ms. Bali’s presentation, it was followed by a short question and answer session where students and professors engaged in a prolonged discussion with Ms. Bali and shared their thoughts and perspective.

9th January, 2023

Hindu College on 9th January 2023, organized its first in-person Vistar Vistar Scheme event in collaboration with one of its partner colleges i.e. Dorjee Khandu Government College, Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. Dr. Reammy Mega; the Nodal officer, one faculty member from the political science department, and ten student volunteers from the partner college came for an educational excursion at Hindu College. Dr. Ananya Barua, Nodal officer, Dr. Archana Verma; senior professor of the History Department, and Dr. Reena Jain, Vice - Principal along with the student volunteer team of Vidya Vistar Scheme of Hindu College welcomed the partner college at 10 A.M. in the college premises. It began with a detailed introduction and interaction of everyone with welcome tea and snacks, which was followed by the college tour. Students from the partner College had an extensive tour of the college, which included a visit to the library, science labs in the science block, Hindu College heritage site i.e. Bharat Ram Centre, computer lab, Utsav Amphitheater, Relaxo research center, old and new buildings and so on. Meanwhile, students of the partner college not only witnessed but also participated in the cultural events of the different societies such as Srijya (The Dance Society). Later, Prof. Archana Verma and Prof. Ananya Barua introduced the students to the professors of many departments such as philosophy, Sociology, Zoology, Hindi, statistics, and so on. Around 2 P.M. students headed to the Sushila Devi Auditorium, where a variety of programs including performances and cross-cultural events were organized. Prof. Reena Jain, Vice-Principal also addressed the gathering at the beginning of the program and talked about the significance of this momentous day. This was followed by the cross-cultural musical event and the projection of a short documentary of Hindu College. Around 3: 30 P.M. Dr. Reammy Mega, Nodal officer of the partner college expressed his thoughts about today's event, and then lastly, everyone headed to the sports complex
